Youth Advisory Panel

Once our Teacher Advisory Panel is formed we will seek nominations of students. As a Teacher Ambassador you will lead the selection of Youth Ambassadors.

Young People are at the heart of Science Gallery Melbourne, from our exhibitions through to our learning experiences. The STEM Centre of Excellence Youth Advisory Group (YAP) brings together student advisors from our Partner Schools and Organisations to offer valuable feedback, perspectives, and ideas on our programs, experiences and events.

Who:

  • We’re looking for four Young People from each of our Partner Schools. If your school has multiple campus, we would love four students from each campus (2 campuses = 8 Student Ambassadors).

  • Students from 7-10 are invited to participate, and we encourage you to consider a Student Ambassador from each year level.

Purpose:

  • Advocate for their own, as well as their peers’, needs and interests.

  • Evaluate existing learning programs (Modules) and resources.

  • Share insights from their experiences with the STEM Centre of Excellence.

  • Make recommendations and review proposals for new learning programs, events and experiences.

  • Pilot and evaluate new programs and resources.

Commitment:

  • Attend the workshop at Science Gallery Melbourne with your teacher/s, 9:30am – 2:30pm (Friday1 December).

  • Enjoy a catered morning tea and lunch.

Benefits:

  • receive a Certificate of Recognition.

  • gain valuable leadership experience and opportunities to interact with senior school staff.

  • gain authentic real-world experience in practicing sharing feedback and suggesting new ideas, and learning about organisational governance and decision-making.
